July 2008
I submitted images to the Royal Photographic Society to apply for my Licentiateship Distinction. These were successful and I will now be looking to obtain my Associate Distinction in due course. I have included the successful panel on the gallery page. The dolphin image, taken off the straits of Gibraltar, was awarded the Alex Watson memorial trophy in the Best Nature Print in Midphot 2008.
February 2009
I have just returned from a trip to South Africa where I visited the Madikwe game reserve on the Botswana border also Addo elephant reserve. I also toured the Zulu battlefields of Rorkes Drift and Isandlwana whch was a wonderful experience and so unspoilt. I finished the trip in Cape Town having driven over 2500 miles but a journey never to be forgotten. The images are starting to appear on the website under the gallery latest images.
June 2009
I went to Norway and Iceland on a 14 day cruise with my wife. Norway and Iceland have stunning scenery but being on a cruise you are never in one place for more than a day so it is a matter of grabbing what images you can. I went on a whale watching tour from Husavic northern Iceland and was lucky enough to get some shots of three Humpback whales and a Blue whale in calm conditions. This made the holiday for me as to photograph whales had been on the agenda for a long time.
February 2010
I entered images in the GB Small Print Circuit and was very pleased to have 18 prints accepted in the exhibition including a Southern Hawker Dragonfly in flight, winning a HM Ribbon in the Carlisle & West Cumbria International Exhibition. I also had an image of Greylag Geese taking off winning an HM Ribbon in the Arden International Exhibition and the Arddangosfa Rhyngwladol International Exhibition respectively.
March 2010
I have just returned from Scotland where I spent a week around the Loch Lomond region, an area where I have spent a lot time over the years. The weather was very kind to me considering it was the second week of March, no rain at all. I managed to get some nice dawn shots of the Loch in wonderful light.
Glencoe and Rannoch Moor had plenty of snow around with most of the lochs being frozen over, the images will be entered on to the site shortly.
